Our Story
From eBay to Etsy to our own!
We are Yasin & Tessa, the dedicated artisans behind Istanblue Design; a lighting & design collective, based in Istanbul Turkey.
Together we established Istanblue Design in 2014. We weren't sure whether anyone would be interested in Turkish lamps, so we put our table lamps & two models of our chandeliers on eBay. And well, they were a hit!
With that enthusiasm we launched our Etsy shop in 2015. Our first order came two weeks later for a custom color pendant. We were thrilled & began introducing our entire line.
Two years & over 1000 sales later we were ready to plant roots on a website that we could call our own.
As a collective, we take great pride in offering you unique handmade lighting created with the same time honored techniques, quality & care produced for generations here in Turkey, at an affordable price. And we have an established reputation doing just that.
In our craft, people are very proud of the work they do. We learn our skills from the generations of artisans before us. This site allows us to carry on a tradition & share it with the world.
